Day 1Arrival in Kochi

Once you arrive in Kochi, our driver will pick you up from the airport. Then you can check-in to the hotel. Depending on the time you have, you can visit the following places in Kochi:

Fort Kochi: It is a seaside town in the south-western part of Kochi, which is known for its old-world colonial charm. Because of the influence of so many European cultures, this place is great for a heritage walk. Surely, you will not be disappointed.

Chinese Fishing Nets: Locally known as Cheena Wala, the they are quite popular sight to witness around the beaches of Kochi. Technically, these nets are fixed near from the shore, which are used through mechanical contrivance from across a distance of about 20 metres across.

The Mattancherry Palace: It is one of the finest examples of the Kerala style of architecture mixed with colonial influences. It is notable for some of the best mythological murals in India, which are in the best traditions of Hindu temple art. Over the centuries, the influence of the Portuguese were supplanted by the Dutch, who they took over Mattancherry in 1663. 

Paradesi Synagogue: The Paradesi Synagogue, which is the oldest active synagogue in the Commonwealth Nations, is located in Kochi. Constructed in 1568, it is one of seven synagogues of the Malabar Yehudan or Yehudan Mappila people or Cochin Jewish community in the Kingdom of Cochin.

Princess Street: It is also known as Loafer’s Corner and is widely hailed as among the oldest locations in Kochi, which is why it is often loved by tourists. The influence of colonial heritage is strong here as you can see numerous homes and buildings on both sides of Princess Street that have European architectural styles, mainly British, Dutch and Portuguese.

Day 2Kochi to Alappuzha Lagoon Resort

After Breakfast, proceed towards a lagoon resort in Alleppey. Kochi to Alleppey is about
50 Km or 30 miles and takes about 2 hours. Its always a great fun and an amazing experience to stay in a lagoon resort. You can do a lot of things here.

Village Walk: A Walk in an Indian village can be so much fun as well as a great learning experience of how people live here. Of course, there will be a guide to take you all along the narrows roads adjoining the lagoons and some that goes deeper inside. As you will notice, you will go past hamlets, prawn farms, lush paddy fields in season nearing harvest, foraging flocks of water birds and what not!
Fishing: Really, fishing can be a lot of fun. There are water bodies in the form of lagoons all around. Some of the fishes that you can expect to catch are Pearl Spot, Viral, Catfish, Shrimps, Tiger Prawns, Lobsters, Mallet, Thilopia, Crab.

Canoeing: Many guests opt for “country boat” tours or canoe trips to villages along the narrower Kerala backwaters You can stop on any shore and may be drink fresh coconut water. No doubt, this is one of the best ways to experience the backwaters. It is typically a 3 to 4 hour activity.

Sunset Cruise: Sunset in the lagoons is something that you must try. In fact, the beauty and uniqueness of this experience is the silhouette of the distant coconut trees, huts and villagers, not to mention the glittering lagoon waters.

Ayurveda Spa and Massage: Kerala is famous for the Ayurveda Massage and Spa. This is believed to detox your body. So, in the evening, enjoy a session of Ayurveda Massage and Spa. Most of the resorts have it.

Day 3Alappuzha to Kumarakom Houseboat for a Ride Through Kerala Backwaters

After breakfast, you can check-out from the hotel. Then you can proceed towards a luxury Kumarakom houseboat to reach there around 11 am.  The drive is around 30 km / 20 miles and would take around 1 hour.

The backwaters of Kerala are skirted with coconut grooves and vast expanses of paddy fields. As your houseboats glides through the backwaters, the rich greenery on either sides of the backwaters are simply mesmerizing.  You can see the villagers in action as they take their humble bicycle out. The lotus blooms at some places. You will also find someone selling coconut right beside the lagoon. Many birds can be seeing around.

When you are in the houseboat, watch out for the colorful kingfisher, who swoop at the sight of fishes in the lagoons. You have to experience the Houseboat to get the full feel of it. Surely, this is an experience that is unique to this part of the world. So, you can hardly afford to miss it.

For lunch, you will enjoy freshly cooked Kerala cuisine as you meander through the backwaters.

When the sun is about to set, sip a hot cup of coffee in the lounge of the houseboat.

During late evening, enjoy dinner and overnight stay in the Kumarakom Houseboat.

Day 4Kumarakom Houseboat to Thekkady

Once you wake up in the morning, enjoy an authentic Kerala breakfast as the houseboat in Kumarakom makes the last rounds through the backwaters.

Check-out from the houseboat and en-route Thekkady. It is around 120 km / 80 miles, which takes about 4 to 5 hours

Once you are in Thekkady, check-in to the resort. In the evening you can watch the cultural show of the town.

The Kadathanadan Kalari Centre in Thekkady is famous for the renowned Kerala art known as Kalaripayattu. Kadathanadan Kalari Centre is the place where you can get a firsthand experience of the renowned art. In fact, this sport, which is unique to Kerala, is well designed for self-defense. You can watch this beautiful art form in Thekkady sightseeing from a special gallery.

Day 5Thekkady Local Sightseeing

Today you may visit the following places :

Periyar National Park, which is located on the banks of the river Periyar, which offers some of the best wildlife sightings in India. Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary has a picturesque view of lush green surroundings which will not just give you a reason to smile but also great pictures to capture.

The Periyar Lake, which is located near the Periyar National Reserves, is a famous tourist spot. When you visit Periyar National Park, you can go for bamboo rafting here. You can also go for boating and enjoy the serene beauty of the surroundings. If you are lucky, you might get a chance to see herds of elephants bathing on the lakeside..

Next you can go for a Spice Plantation Tour. The spice plantation in Thekkady is one of the major attractions in Kerala. In fact, the plantations of cardamom, rubber, vanilla, and coffee are also aplenty.

When you are in Thekkady, take a walk around the Spice Plantations. There are quite a few. So, when you are in Thekkady, make sure you choose one that has enough varieties and a professional guide to take you around.

One of the major spices produced in the area is cardamom. Also, the pepper plantations are something else that are worth seeing. To add to them, there is also a variety of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, ginger, turmeric and curry leaves on the slanting slopes of the spice plantation in Thekkady. No wonder, a Spice Plantation Tour is a memorable one and something that you cannot afford to miss.

At day’s end, return to the resort.

Day 6Thekkady to Munnar

Today after breakfast you can start from Munnar. Munnar to Thekkady is about 90 Km or 60 miles and takes around 2 – 3 hours.

Once you reach Munnar, you can have your check into the resort. In the evening you can go for a boating in the Mattupetty Dam. The main attraction of Mattupetty is the dam and the lake here. One of the best experiences is the boating on this lake. Typically during sunset in the evening, the boating experience is very relaxing here.

Day 7Munnar Sight Seeing

Today you can see the following things in Munnar:

Jeep Safari: We will provide you a Jeep Safari that will take you to the higher altitudes of Munnar for a great panoramic view of the tea Plantation. One of the Best Time to go for the Jeep Safari is after breakfast.

Pothamedu: It is a refreshing environment, where you can trek up to. One can witness the spectacular wide views of tea, coffee and cardamom plantations of the area. 

Echo Point: This place is famous for the echo phenomenon. Situated along the banks of the picturesque Kundala Lake, misty clouds, hills, lush green meadows and forests, surround the Echo Point, which make a visit to this scenic place even more exhilarating.

Tata Tea Museum or Kannan Devan Tea Museum: In fact, the Tata group, which has established a tea museum in Munnar so that tourists can get an insight into the tea  process. So, if you are interested to find out how the tea leaves from the gardens are processed step-by-step, this is a must see place for you. 

Mattupetty Dam: The main attraction of Mattupetty is the dam and the lake here. One of the best experiences is the boating on this lake. Typically during sunset in the evening, the boating experience is very relaxing here.

Attukad Waterfall: It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Munnar, ideal for trekking and picnics. Thick jungle and lush green terrains, surround the waterfall, which is reachable only through wooden bridge.  

Day 8Munnar to Kochi

In the morning post breakfast check-out from the resort and en-route Kochi, which is about 125 Km or 80 miles. It takes about 4 – 5 hours. Take the evening flight back from Kochi.
