Day 1Arrival in Darjeeling

Once you arrive at the Bagdogra Airport, our driver will pick you up

Day 2Darjeeling Sightseeing

Today we can see the following places:

Darjeeling Himalayan RailwayThe legendary toy train of Darjeeling, the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, offers a unique and fun-filled experience. The Heritage Train attracts many tourists from all across the globe. Take the special tourist trains that connects Darjeeling to Ghum, the highest train station in the country. This train journey is known for having one of the most scenic mountain railway circuits in the world.

Batasia Loop – The Loop is one of the best places to get a bird’s eye view of Darjeeling’s landscape. You will be amazed to see the snow-capped peaks of the Eastern Himalayas. The mighty Kanchenjunga can also be seen from here. The loop is around a beautiful flowering garden which adds to the charm of the place. This well-maintained garden and the bridge in the middle are feasts to one’s eyes . You will find many perennial and seasonal shrubs and flowers.

Darjeeling RopewayAt a mere distance of 3km from the city center, the ropeway is a famous attraction of Drajeeling. The entire journey presents magnificent views of the mountains and the tea gardens, and one thoroughly enjoys the trip. There are several stops along the way which is 8kms in distance. One can also see two streams from the ropeway, one is the river Ramman and other is Little Rangeet.

Ghoom Monastery –One of the oldest Tibetan Buddhist monasteries in Darjeeling famous for the tall statue of Maitreya Buddha. The statue of Buddha represents his future form yet to come.

Day 3Darjeeling Sightseeing

Tiger Hill – The most famous mountain peak in Darjeeling, Tiger Hill is best known for its panoramic views of Mt. Everest and Kanchenzonga. Start from your hotel before sunrise to reach the Tiger Hill. Witnessing the changing colours of the Mt. Kanchenjungha as the first rays of the sun kisses her peak, is an experience that is going to stay with you forever. If you are lucky, you can also see Mt. Everest and Makalu from Tiger Hill. 

Darjeeling Peace PagodaConsidered as a symbol of peace and religion, the Pagoda is an extremely popular Buddhist temple and monastery. 

Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park – The Darjeeling Zoo, also called as Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park is a 67.56 acre zoo in the town of Darjeeling. It is located at an average elevation of 2,134 metres and is the largest high altitude zoo in India. Darjeeling Zoo is the only specialised zoo in India which is internationally recognized for its conservation breeding programmes of Red Panda, Himalayan Newt, Snow Leopards, Tibetan Wolf and other highly endangered animal species of Eastern Himalaya. One can see here animals like Indian Tiger, Snow Leopard, Black Leopard, Clouded Leopard, Tibetan Wolf, Asiatic Black Bear, Red Panda, Blue Sheep, Yak, Musk Deer, Barking Deer and Jackal. The zoo also houses various species of birds such as Kalij Pheasant, Golden Pheasant, Ring Necked Pheasant, Red Jungle Fowl, Rose-Ringed Parakeet etc.

Shrubbery Nightingale Park – Flanked by a covered archway, the entrance leads you to pebbled walkways around this oval-shaped park. Also one can view the Kanchanjunga from here. It has a musical fountain inside along with a statue of Lord Shiva.

St. Andrews Church – St. Andrew’s Church is an old Anglican Church located at the Mall Road in Darjeeling town of West Bengal.

Day 4Darjeeling to Gangtok

After breakfast checkout and drive to Gangtok. The distance from Darjeeling to Gangtok is about 100 KM or 65 miles. It would take about 3 – 4 hours.

Rest of the day for relaxing.

Day 5Gangtok Sightseeing

Today after breakfast we will see the various places in Gangtok:

 Tsomgo Lake – A standout amongst the most imperative and heavenly places to visit in Gangtok, the Tsomgo Changu Lake is a frosty lake arranged 40 kilometres from Gangtok at a stature of 12,310 feet. Apart from its breathtaking scenic beauty, the lake is also famous for housing the Brahminy Ducks and many other migratory birds.

Baba MandirLocated on the road between Jelepla and Nathula Pass, Baba Mandir is visited by hundreds of people every day. It is believed that the temple has wish fulfilling powers. An annual holiday is celebrated in September in the memory of the saint. People leave their water bottles at the mandir and collect it back on their way back. It is believed by them that the temple will bestow curative properties that helps cure many ailments.

Cottage Industry and Handicraft Center – Also known as the Directorate of Handloom and Handicrafts was established during the time of the Chogyals of Sikkim to promote the ethnic art and craft of Sikkim. It has a museum that show cases many art works and items produced by the local artists and artisan, items including scroll painting, carpets, handlooms, traditional handcrafts, furniture, wooden carved objects, embroidered products are kept for sale in the emporium.

Day 6Gangtok Local Sightseeing

After breakfast today we see the following places:

Tashi View Point – This charming little Tashi View Point is a perfect place to witness the brilliant surroundings like mountains, valleys and Gangtok itself. One can witness the changing of colours of the Kanchenjunga and Siniolchu Peaks as the sun slowly moves from this view point along with the glimpse famous monasteries of Gangtok, Phodong and Labrang.

Ganesh Tok – Among the resplendent Buddhist monasteries of Gangtok stands one of the many well-maintained temples of Sikkim. The quaint and vivid Hindu temple, constructed in 1953 offers visitors panoramic views of the snow-dusted Kanchenjunga hills and the Gangtok city. 

Hanuman Tok –  This place offers a splendid view of the neighbouring hills and valleys, you can also see the amazing sight of the town from Hanuman Tok.

Institute of Tibetology – It is one of the most important and famous institutes in the world that does research in the areas of Tibetan language and culture. It is a prominent tourist sightseeing spot of Gangtok as well as Sikkim and also has a museum in its premises which has rare collections of statues, coins, thangkas (that are scrolls with hand paintings & embroidery work), Tibetan art work & objects, and ancient manuscripts, as well as a Tibetan library with the largest collections of Tibetan documents and literatures in the world and also a reference center about Tibet and Himalayas in general.

Dro-dul Chorten – Do Drul Chorten is one of the most important stupas in Sikkim, nestled in the stunning valleys of Gangtok. The Stupa has around 108 Mani Lhakor or prayer wheels. 

Enchey Monastery – The presence of tall pine trees, flowery meadows and the beautiful view of the Kanchenjunga Hills, gives the devotees a feeling of being in the middle of a serene and blessed environment. Situated 3 km to the north-east of Gangtok, this monastery is about 200 years old.

Banjakhri Falls – The park where the waterfalls are located is in a thickly forested area of Swastik, which is about seven kilometers away from Gangtok. 

 

Day 7Back from Gangtok
