Day 1Arrival at Varanasi

Once you reach Varanasi airport, our driver will receive you at the airport. The city is also known by the old name of Kashi India or Benares India.

After lunch visit the weaver village. Here you would get to know the craftsmanship of the weavers with their distinct design. As you visit here, you will see the finest Banarasi sarees with gold and silver brocade or zari, fine silk and opulent embroidery. If you wish to, you might just pick one or two for yourself and your family

Once you have visit the weaver’s village, in the evening, witness the major attraction of Varanasi. Once you reach the ghats, you can hire a boat to witness the ceremony. This is the grand Aarti ceremony, which is performed by several priests on the banks of River Ganges. As you watch the enthralling experience, you will get to hear the majestic blended sound of Sanskrit mantras, drums, bells and cymbals. When the ceremony is over a thousand hand-made lamps are floated on the river. Experience the energy that flows since the time of Kashi India.

Then stay overnight at hotel.

Day 2Varanasi Local Sightseeing and Sarnath Day Trip

Today, wake up early morning during sunrise. We will take you for a Boat Ride on the river Ganga, which is an unparalleled experience. You would find a whole lot of activities performed by the natives on the banks of the river. Some will be taking bath, others washing clothes…some will be praying, the priests would be doing brisk business, bereaved son who lost his father or mother would be tonsured and praying, thick smoke would be coming out of some pyres where the dead would have been burned….

Take a heritage walk in the morning. Observe the Daily life of Natives on Streets of Varanasi and explore some famous Temples and Ghats like Kashi Vishwanath, Nepali temple ,Manikarnika Ghat , Durga devi Temple and the famous Kashi Vishwanath Temple

After breakfast you can visit the Ramnagar Fort and Museum. This fort is build in red sandstone, this fort was the ancestral home for the Maharajas of Banaras. It also has a vintage museum that is famous for its rare collection of old American cars, ivory works, medieval costumes, and a huge astronomical clock.

Then you can proceed towards Sarnath, which is around 10 km from Varanasi. Here you will get a glimpse of Buddhist architecture and culture. This place also holds spiritual importance as Lord Buddha came to give his first sermon. It is believed that after attaining the Enlightenment at Bodh Gaya, it was here that Lord Buddha preached his first sermon. Popular sightseeing places in Sarnath include the Dhamekh Stupa and monastery ruins, the Archaeological Museum, the Chaukhandi Stupa, the Ashoka Pillar, the Mulagandha Kuti Vihar, and the Chinese and Thai Temple and Monastery.

In the evening, you might want to watch the evening aarti of the river Ganges once more. 

Day 3Varanasi to Prayagraj (Allahabad)

After breakfast, proceed towards Prayagraj (Allahabad), which is about 125 km or 75 miles  and takes 3 to 4 hours. Varanasi to Khajuraho is a long distance. Hence we are breaking the journey at Allahabad. Allahabad is also a city with historical importance. Prayagraj is famous for being the confluence of the three most holy rivers in India – Ganga, Yamuna and the proverbial Saraswati. In the evening, you can take a boat, which will take you to the confluence.

However if you run short of time we can customize your plan to skip Allahabad for drive from Varanasi to Khajuraho directly.

On reaching , check-in at the hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 4Allahabad to Khajuraho

Post breakfast check-out from the hotel and head towards Khajuraho, which is about 270 km  or 170 miles. This takes about 8 to 9 hours )

On reaching Khajuraho, check-in the hotel.

In the evening spend loitering around in the city.

Day 5Khajuraho Western Group of Temples

After breakfast you will visit Western Group of Temples in Khajuraho.

If you have an early flight the next day, you can visit both these on a single day. Or you can spread your visit across 2 days if you have an evening flight the following day.

Western Group of Temples:

Laxman Temple: The Laxman Temple is the oldest and most aesthetically pleasing temples among the Western group of Temples. In fact, the trinity of Hindu Gods – Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva – is depicted in the horizontal beam, which you will find over the entrance of the temple. The Laxman Temple in Khajuraho is one of the biggest temples. So, when you are in Khajuraho, you cannot afford to miss the Laxman Temple!

Kandariya Mahadev Temple: This temple is famous for the superb craftsmanship of about 900 sculptures. It is the impressive and refined architecture of the temple that gives an insight into the city’s royal past. The artistic representation of eroticism on the walls of this temple, which is made up of a typical sandstone structure, has a charm of its own. It is dedicated to Hindu Lord Shiva, and has a Shiva Linga made of marble, as its sanctum

Matangeshwar Temple: This temple houses some of the largest Shiva lingams of India, which is a 8 feet high Shivalingam. Devotees consider this temple to be one of the holiest temples of Khajuraho. When you are in Khajuraho, try to visit the morning aarti, which is a delightful experience.

Day 6Khajuraho Eastern Group of Temples. Depart Khajuraho

Assuming you have some hours in the morning, you can visit the Eastern Group of Hotels today.

Adinath Temple: This is a Jain temple, which is dedicated to the Jain God Tirthankar.  It is decorated by a single towered shikara, which enhances the beauty of the shrine. The walls of the temple have beautiful carvings depicting images and postures of court musicians. In fact, the temple is classified as a Monument of National Importance by the Archaeological Survey of India.

Javari Temple: The Javari Temple belongs to the Eastern Group of Temples. It is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It attracts tourists from every nook and corner of the world because of its exquisite architecture and intricate design. In fact, the elaborate gateway of the Javari Temple in Khajuraho is one of its characteristic features.

Brahma Temple: The walls of the temples are unadorned with heavy figurative work. In fact, it is one of the oldest structures in the Eastern Group of Temples. The temple is named after Lord Brahma owing to the presence of a four-faced idol in the sanctum, which represents the Creator of the World.

After the visit, you may leave for the airport.
