Amer Fort (Jaipur)

Amer Fort: This fort is built of red sandstone and marble, which is laid out on four levels, each with a courtyard. It is the principal tourist attraction in Jaipur. In fact, it was the main residence of the celebrated Rajput kings and their families. The fort is famed because of its architectural brilliance.  You can take an elephant ride, which takes you to the entrance of the Amber Fort.

Jaipur City Palace (Jaipur)

Jaipur City Palace: Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, who moved his court to Jaipur from Amber, in 1727, established  the Jaipur Palace. This was built as a residence for the royal families. The Jaipur palace has a sequence of gardens, buildings, courtyards, temples and museums, which gives it a grand view and reflects the historical importance and magnificent royal grace.

Jal Mahal ( Jaipur)

Jal Mahal is a palace in the middle of the Man Sagar Lake in Jaipur city. From here you get a picturesque view of the Nahargarh mountain ranges and the surrounding lake waters. You can go for an exciting boating ride on the lake. Indeed, it is a memorable experience.

Highlights of Jal Mahal: Birds like Flamingo and Common Moorhen are found around, lovely backdrop of the Aravali Hills.

Hawa Mahal (Jaipur)

Hawa Mahal: This marvelous architecture is constructed of red and pink sandstone. This palace was built for the royal women to get a glimpse of the daily events. Apart from the daily events, they also watched the royal processions and festivals.

Chittorgarh Fort (Chittor)

Chittorgarh Fort: It is one of the largest forts in India and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The fort was the capital of Mewar, which is located in the present-day town of Chittor. It sprawls over a hill 180 m (590.6 ft) in height, which spreads over an area of 280 ha (691.9 acres). In fact, it is above the plains of the valley drained by the Berach River. The fort has several historical palaces, gates, temples and two prominent commemorative towers.

Mehrangarh Fort (Jodhpur)

Mehrangarh Fort: It is one of the largest forts in India, which was built in around 1459. In fact, the fort is situated 410 feet (125 m) above the city, surrounded by thick walls. As you will find, inside its boundaries there are several palaces known for their intricate carvings and expansive courtyards. The museum exhibits the arms, costumes, paintings and decorated antiques. You should specifically visit one section of the fort museum, which has a selection of old royal palanquins, including the elaborate domed gilt Mahadol palanquin.

Kumbalgarh Fort (Near Udaipur)

Kumbalgarh Fort: It is the second largest fort in the world after the Chittor Fort. In fact. it is the second largest wall in the world after the Great Wall of China. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Spend a few hours in the Kumbhalgarh Fort, which overlooks the gorgeous Aravalli Hills. It protects 13 mountain peaks of the Aravallis. The fort area, which encompasses various important structures like palaces, courtyards, is a gigantic place. It also has more than 360 Brahmanical and Jain temples dotting the structure.

Highlights of Kumbalgarh Fort: Kumbha palace, Badal mahal, birthplace of Maharana Pratap, and an astonishing 360+ Brahmanical, Jain temples and Neelkanth Mahadev Temple.

Entry fee: INR 10/100 for Indians/foreigners.

Timings: 09:00 a.m. to 06:00 p.m.

Jaisalmer Fort (Jaisalmer)

 Jaisalmer Fort: This is one of the oldest and massive forts of Rajasthan. This massive Jaisalmer fort is made up of yellow sandstone. As you would notice, this fort has a distinctive golden colour, which is more evident during sunset. Hence, it is also known as the Golden Fortress.

Highlights of Jaisalmer Fort: Four grand entrances, Royal Palace, Lakshminath Temple, Jaisalmer Fort Palace Museum and Heritage Centre and palaces of the Merchants.

Entry fee: Entry is free for the fort. However, camera charges (INR 50 for still and INR 100 for video) are applicable for entering Jaisalmer Palace Museum and Heritage Centre
