Chidiya Tapu

Corbyn's Cove

Corbyn’s Cove Beach is on the outskirts of the city of Port Blair. Because of its exquisite beauty, it is a prominent place to visit in Port Blair. This infamous jail was used by the colonial British Empire to prison the freedom fighters of India. This has now been converted into a National Memorial. The huge buildings with multiple cells and towering walls bear testimony to a dark past of the erstwhile Colonial British Empire.

Mount Harriet

Jolly Buoy Island

You can reach the Jolly Buoy Island from Port Blair by boat. There are scheduled boats that leave Port Blair each day for island hopping. The Jolly Buoy Island is covered as a part of the island hopping. It is an unforgettable haven for beautiful marine life, colorful underwater corals, clear turquoise green waters.

Ross Island

This Island the erstwhile capital for the most of Andaman Islands from 1858 until an earthquake in 1941. Today, there are only relics of some buildings, which housed some of these landmarks.

If you have time. you can walk on to the other side of the island to Ferar beach and the old jetty. Farzand Ali Store here is famous. It is now maintained like a museum, which has a lot of pictures of the British era and their activities in Andaman Islands. You will be surprised to find out that the British had built up tram lines in Andaman too.

There is a Ross Island Memorial documentary shown inside the Bakery (Timings – 9.30 am to 9.45 am, 11.30 am to 11.45 am ). A documentary on Andaman Islands is shown from 3 pm to 4pm.

Wandoor Beach

Wandoor Beach is about 25 km east of Port Blair. Since it is located near Port Blair, Wandoor beach is easily accessible by the tourists visiting Andaman.

If you are an adventure lover, then you can take a short trek to natural caves formed over the passage of time by high tides which enclose the beach. Samudrika Marine Museum

Samudrika Marine Museum of Port Blair may not be a very sophisticated marine Museum. However, it provides an informative study into the past of the islands, their people, archaeology, and marine lifestyle. It also exhibits the richest collection of Andaman’s animal and floral lives.

This museum also includes a small aquarium that houses various collections of fishes and corals and shells. Inside the premise, under the open sky you will find a skeleton of a blue whale that was washed ashore on the Nicobars. It is especially a thrilling sight for kids and children.

Gandhi Park

The Gandhi Park of Port Blair is located in the heart of the city. It is just the perfect sightseeing place to relax, rejuvenate, and revive. The park has a big statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the center. A small and beautiful park with amusement rides, a garden, a small narrow trail around a small lake inside the premises, water sports, historic remains of a Japanese temple and a war bunker.
