Bangaram and Kavaratti Dive Centres

Kitting up in scuba-gear is easily one of the most exciting and rewarding things you can do in these waters. Bangaram is one of the few islands in Lakshadweep were scuba diving is possible. It is a renowned spot for scuba diving and is comparable to the Great Barrier Reef and the Maldives. The name of the dive centre here is Bangaram Dive Centre. It was the first dive centre of Lakshadweep and the best time to visit here for diving is between the months of November and March as the water is clear. The dive centre is a part of Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) which is a global community offering various diving courses for dive enthusiasts. All the instructors at the dive centre are certified instructors and rescuers.

The beautiful lagoon at Kavaratti, is ideal for beginners. The centre located on the northern tip of the island has easy access to dive spots. The name of the dive centre is Lakshadweep Diving Academy/ 5-star PADI IDC Centre. The center offers certified programmes for the divers and beginners. They impart training in the field of diving. PADI-certified instructors are available to train beginners.

The Dive Sites

Bangaram has 8 scuba diving sites namely Grand Canine, Shallow Point, Manta Point, Little Canine, Thinnakara Hills, Bangaram Reef, Harbour Mouth and Thinnakara Reef. the interesting fact is, most of these dive points are wreck sites deep under the water.

Likewise, Kavaratti has 8 scuba diving sites namely South Tip (E), Turtle Nest, Wall of Wonder, Sea Fan Garden, South Tip (W), Wind Mill, Glaser Garden and Harbour Mouth. As in Bangaram, Most of these dive points are caves under the water.

Generally, both Bangaram and Kavaratti dive centres offers two dives per day for any diver. However, you can also go for night dive. Though this is not offered daily, but only when the conditions are favorable for the dive. The divers to ensure you have an adventurous trip but not at the cost of your safety.

The Dive Costs and Logistics

Now the all-important Lakshadweep scuba diving cost. As you would see, it is one of the cheapest in the world.

The cost of the dives is INR 2500 + 5% GST (approx $45) per person per dive in Kavaratti. The cost of the dives in Banagaram is INR 3500 + 5% GST (approx $65) per person per dive for a certified diver and INR 4500 + 5% GST (approx $75) per person per dive for a non certified diver. These costs are paid directly by the customer at the island before a dive. Non-certified divers can dive upto 12 meters max.
