Best Time to Visit

October to June is the best time to visit Kanha National Park.

The best time to spot wildlife, especially tigers, are the summers, Which is April and May. During this time the grasses and water bodies dry up. So, the wildlife are easier to spot as they roam around the forest. Not only that, because of limited water bodies, an experienced guide would take you to the place where the chances of spotting one is best. However, weather-wise it will be hot.

So, if you want to go for a safari when the weather is pleasant and yet chances of wildlife spotting is reasonably high, then you should plan sometime between October and March.

The park remains closed from July to Mid-October because of monsoon.

The zones are basically the entry points to the park. There are 4 zones in the Kanha Tiger Reserves.

Mukki Safari Zone: This was the second zone that came into operation after Kanha Zone. Easily accessible from Raipur and Gondia towns. Mukki is 45 km from Kilsi Safari Zone.

Sarhi Safari Zone: It was the third one to be introduced by the forest department to distribute the inflow of tourists visiting the national park area.
