Goa and Puducherry are on the two different coasts of India. Goa is on the Western Coast, facing the Arabian Sea. Puducherry, on the other hand, is on the Eastern Coast of India, facing the Bay of Bengal. Thus, while sunrises are a thing to behold from Puducherry, its the sunset from Goa that makes the trips to Goa so memorable.
Yet, both are strikingly similar in more than one way. Both have some of the most clean beaches in India. Both have some really cosy and comfortable beach resorts. And both are easily accessible. While the Dabolim Airport of Goa has good connectivity, the one in Puducherry, though not with great connectivity more than makes up for its proximity to Chennai. Chennai has one of the busiest airports in India.
The other connection between the two places is the past European connection. Goa’s culture is influenced by several European cultures, most predominantly of Portugal. France had ruled Puducherry for centuries. Thus, apart from the relaxing beach vacations, do not forget to take those short heritage walks, peep into those old building that speaks volumes of the bygone days.
