Church of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception

A chapel was first built in Panaji in 1541, to serve the religious needs of Portuguese sailors at their first port of call for Portuguese sailors and business in Goa. After that the chapel was slowly modified and enhanced. Today it is one of the main attractions of Goa. It is located in the heart of Panaji. The zig-zag staircases that leads upto the church makes it one of the most beautiful churches in Goa.

Basilica Church of Bom Jesus

The Basilica of Bom Jesus church is one of a kind in India and is known for its exemplary architecture. A site with rich cultural and religious significance, the Basilica of Bom Jesus has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Relics of Saint Francis Xavier are enshrined here. Dudhsagar Waterfalls

The word “Dudhsagar” is roughly translated to “Sea of Milk” due to its milky white water. Reputed as the 4th tallest waterfall in India, these splendid waterfalls are a magnetic spot for people, every year attracting thousands of domestic and foreign tourists.

During the monsoon season the falls are transformed into one of the most powerful falls in India. The water plummets hundreds of feet in large volumes during the monsoon season, forming one of the most spectacular natural phenomena in Goa. Flea Markets

Anjuna Market (Wednesday): This is the most famous of the Flea Markets in Goa. It is Held from 9.00 AM to 6.00 PM every Wednesday. It started off as a “Hippie exchange” of commodities, which has now a full-fledged market. Apart from the various trinkets and knick-knacks on sale, you can also find some live performances by bands, who play from a variety of genres, ranging from rock to jazz.

Arpora Market (Saturday Night) : Located in Arpora, the Saturday night market starts at 6.00 in the evening and remains open till late in the night. One of the main attractions of this Flea Market is the variety of food available. You will also find local products and some boutiques and designer stalls.

Mapusa Market (Friday): What sets the Mapusa Market apart from the other flea markets is its transformation from a regular bazaar during the rest of the week, to a quintessential Goan flea market on Fridays. It remains open from 8.00 AM to 6.30 PM, and has a bit of everything that one could look for in a flea market- from fruits, vegetables, and meat to textiles, clothing, pots, and handmade paper.

Calangute Bazaar (Saturdays): The Calangute Bazaar remains open on Saturdays from 6.30 AM to 12.00 PM, It is primarily known for its Tibetan and Kashmiri sections.

Fort Aguada

Mandovi River Cruise

The Mandovi River Cruise starts after sunset. It is held on the river Mandovi in Panaji. St. Francis of Assisi Church

The Church of St. Francis of Assisi is a heritage construction, which was built in the year 1660. The church boasts of the unique Portuguese Architecture style called Manueline style which uses nautical motifs. The walls are beautifully painted panels depicting the life of St. Francis of Assisi.

It is the only church in Goa that has a museum in its premises containing paintings, artifacts and sculptures. The convent, which forms an annexure to the church, now houses the Archaeological Museum.
